Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

In exchange for your irrevocable gift of cash, securities, or other assets, SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation agrees to pay one or two annuitants you name a fixed sum each year for life. The older your designated annuitants are at the time of the gift, the greater the fixed income SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation can agree to pay. In most cases, part of each payment is tax-free, increasing each payment's after-tax value.

Payments may be made annually, semiannually, or quarterly.

EXAMPLE:

You irrevocably transfer $20,000 (the current minimum) in cash to South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation at age 72. You receive a fixed annual annuity payment of $1180. (This is based on the 2009 rate for new annuities for individuals age 72. Rates increase with age and rates for new annuities change frequently. Contact the Foundation for the current rate for your age or an illustration of the benefits of an annuity for your situation.)

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

1) You will qualify for a federal income tax deduction of approximately one-third of your gift.

2) You will receive fixed payments annually totaling $1180. Approximately 2/3 of the income will be tax-free.

3) Your estate may enjoy reduced probate costs and estate taxes.

4) You will provide generous support of SD Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
