Make Your Park Memories Part of South Dakota’s Story

For decades, South Dakota state parks have been places where memories are made — camping under the stars, hiking scenic trails, fishing with family, and sharing stories around the campfire.

In honor of the South Dakota Parks & Wildlife Foundation’s 40th anniversary, we invite high school students to reflect on the moments that matter most.

Students are encouraged to create an original work of art that illustrates a memorable experience they’ve had in a South Dakota state park — or one they hope to have someday. Artwork could depict natural and beautiful landscapes, a special family memory or scene, wildlife in their natural habitat, or all of the above.

Finalists will receive prizes - including a South Dakota State Park Pass to help them create even more outdoor memories and will be honored at a special showcase and award ceremony. In addition, the overall winner will receive an outdoor gear package from Scheels and a $100 Go Outdoors SD Gift Card. Plus, classroom teachers whose submit essays will also receive an Annual State Park Pass as a thank-you for participating.
