Operation: Mobility

Operation: Mobility is a volunteer-driven campaign with a mission to provide up to 30 all-terrain track chairs and trailers to outdoor destinations around the state.

Ongoing Project - Operation: Mobility, Accessibility for Everyone

Project Summary

Operation: Mobility is a fundraising campaign to purchase up to 30 all-terrain track chairs and trailers to be distributed throughout South Dakota’s Game Fish and Parks System. The goal is to have the chairs spread throughout the state and available for various outdoor activities including park and trail enjoyment, hunting, and fishing.

Background

With approximately 12% of South Dakota’s population being mobility challenged, one of the core missions of the campaign is to reintroduce as many citizens to outdoor activities as possible. The chair donated by the Peterson’s, also known as a “Track Chair,” is the second available for use through the GFP – the first available in Eastern South Dakota.

Chair Use

Anyone wishing to use either track chair can contact the Outdoor Campus in either Rapid City or Sioux Falls for reservations. The chairs are available for use free to the disabled public.

Getting Involved

The campaign looks to partner with local communities to raise funds for a chair and trailer placement at a state park or regional office near them. To learn more about how to get a track chair in your community, contact Mike Samp at msamp@samplaw.com or 605-359-2500.
